Michelle Terry has taken home the Best Actress In A Supporting Role award for her emotive performance in the Royal Court Theatre’s Tribes.
This is the actress’s first Olivier Award, fighting off strong competition from Sarah Goldberg, Anastasia Hille, Gina McKee and Rachel Stirling to win the prestigious statuette.
Terry wins for her performance as Sylvia in Nina Raine’s provocative drama about a dysfunctional family whose youngest member Billy is deaf. Her critically acclaimed performance as Billy’s girlfriend was both moving and thought-provoking as she faced the challenging task of depicting a woman coping with the loss of her hearing.
Terry’s other theatre credits include the Olivier Award-nominated London Assurance and All’s Well That Ends Well at the National Theatre and The Man Who Had All The Luck at the Donmar Warehouse.
