SOLT and Radio Times search for awards panellists

Published 22 December 2011

The Society of London Theatre (SOLT) is joining up with Radio Times in its search for public panellists to judge the 2013 Olivier Awards with Mastercard.

Each year SOLT selects members of the public to sit on its four panels – theatre, opera, dance and affiliate – to decide which of the numerous productions in London’s Theatreland throughout the year should be nominated for Olivier Awards.

Each panellist must attend every eligible production in the category for the whole of the judging year, which next year starts on 17 February. In the case of the theatre category, that can amount to over 100 shows.

For the 2013 awards judging year, in addition to the usual application process, one panellist will be chosen by way of a competition in Radio Times running in the 31 December 2011 edition of the magazine.

Ben Preston, Editor of Radio Times, said: “Radio Times is thrilled to be involved in a competition with such a life-changing prize. Our readers adore quality drama – on television and stage – and this is an astonishing chance for someone to spend a year watching the best theatre in the world.”

Each panellist and their guest will also be invited to the Olivier Awards with Mastercard 2013 ceremony and the after-show party.

Those wishing to apply to be a panellist through SOLT can find more information here. Those who plan to enter the Radio Times competition should see the 31 December issue.
