Matilda makes Guinness Book Of Records

Following its overwhelming success at this year’s Olivier Awards, where it scooped a record-breaking seven prestigious accolades, Matilda The Musical has made it into the Guinness Book Of Records.
The RSC’s hit musical, which is based on Roald Dahl’s classic tale and features a score by comedian and musician Tim Minchin, won the awards for Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Director, Best Theatre Choreographer, Best Set Design and Best Sound Design, stealing the record-holding crown from the 1980 production of Nicholas Nickleby, which had retained the title for Most Olivier Award wins for more than 20 years.
Other theatrical recognitions in the bulky book of achievement include The Mousetrap, which holds the record for the longest theatrical run in the West End prior its 60th anniversary later this year, and Les Misérables, which retains the title for the longest running musical in the West End.
Oversees, The Lion King has been recognised as the highest grossing Broadway show and The Phantom Of The Opera has been named as the longest running show on Broadway.
